OooWoo Racing Kennel Images
"The racing Siberians of the Jemez Mountains"
The images below include images from racing, training, or just general
fun images from my kennel. I add to this list all the time, so check back
periodically to see what's new. I hope you enjoy these images.
- Race Images
- 2000 Granby, Colorado
- Since I did not race this year, I sent Kiska up to Colorado to some good friends of mine
to run her for me. The sled is driven by Tammy Herr, and Kiska is in right wheel in this picture.
She is running next to her sister, Judy. They look a lot alike.
- 2000 Granby, Colorado
- Another shot from the same race, Kiska in same position.
- 2000 Granby, Colorado
- Another shot from the same race, Kiska in same position. This one rounding the corner
very near the finish line.
- 2000 Granby, Colorado
- Final shot from this same race, Kiska in same position. This one past finish line and heading
for the dog truck.
- 1997 Granby, Colorado
- Just out of the starting chute. Moving right along.
- 1997 Granby Colorado
- Just out of the starting cute. I look very relaxed, don't
you think?
- 1996 Grand Lake, Colorado
- Just out of the starting chute. This was the first race I
ran my new dog, Nicholas, in. He is running in right wheel
in this image.
- 1996 Granby, Colorado
- Just out of the chute. The best thing I like about
this picture is the expression on
Tuvo's face. He's
like Mr. crazy-dog or something.
- 1996 Granby, Colorado
- Just before the finish line. This was the last race I
ran Nikki, my red dog, in.
- 1996 Granby, Colorado
- After the finish line, heading for the parking lot. Still
running good.
- 1996 Granby, Colorado
- Entering the parking lot. Since my leaders are gee/haw
trained, I have no problems weaving through the trucks to
get to mine.
- 1996 Dolores, Colorado
- Climbing a hill. Trail was kinda slushy.
- 1996 Dolores, Colorado
- Topped the hill.
- 1996 Frisco, Colorado
- Me and my team in the starting chute.
- 1996 Frisco, Colorado
- The team and I in action. We are really moving along
here, and I am leaning into a corner in this picture.
- 1995 Flagstaff, Arizona
- 1995 Flagstaff, Arizona
- Hey! Is this the right trail?
- 1995 Flagstaff, Arizona
- Almost home!
- 1995 Flagstaff, Arizona
- Good run, good dogs!
- 1995 Frisco, Colorado
- Kay Barnett-Dean took this picture of me at the finish line
in the Frisco race. Thanks, Kay!
- 1994 Pagosa Springs, Colorado
- Here I am just getting ready to go out. I am talking to Tasska
and Tuvo, my lead dogs.
- 1994 Granby, Colorado
- This one shows the only image of Boyki I have. Boyki was a
Siberian Husky I borrowed from someone in my area that used to
mush. He wanted me to run his dog for him. Boyki was a neat
dog, nice personality and eager to run. He is shown in right
wheel position in the picture.
- 1993 Pagosa Springs, Colorado
- This was the last race for Sipa, my malamute. I eventually gave him to a
family in Colorado as a pet. He was too slow for my Siberian team.
- 1993 Pagosa Springs, Colorado
- This is me on the way back to the truck on Sunday. Note that
I only have 2 dogs in a 3 dog race. I was'nt kidding about
dropping Sipa. I was 2 minutes faster the second day. :-)
- 1993 Granby, Colorado
- This is one of the last races I ran Sipa, my malamute,
in. He and Tasska can be seen mugging for the camera
in this image.
- 1993 Dolores, Colorado
- Me leaving the starting chute. This was the first race
held in Dolores. I am guessing the year. It was 1992 or
1993. I forget which.
- 1993 Dolores, Colorado
- Another image from later down the trail.
- Training Images
- ATV Training Run
- This was taken in 1999 at my training area in the Jemez mountains, near
where I live. This was the initial hookup. Note Kiska next to the
truck getting ready to get hooked up. I always hook her up last since
she is the youngest and most energetic, she also tends to tangle the line
sooner. :-)
- ATV Training Run
- One more from the same sequence in 1999, this time with everyone hooked up.
We are just about ready to go in this image.
- ATV Training Run
- Also in 1999, but a different time from the training run above. My mother
came along on this run, and took this image from the cab of my truck. This is
at the beginning of the run. I am sitting on the ATV and just about to take off.
- ATV Training Run
- This is the end of the training run that started in the above image.
- ATV Training Run
- An interesting picture of Tuvo shaking himself off after the above training
run.
- ATV Training Run
- Taken in Las Cruces, New Mexico, in 1998. This is a picture of me harnessing up
Tuvo, my lead dog, prior to the run.
- ATV Training Run
- Taken in Las Cruces, New Mexico, in 1998. Picture of Nicholas talking. My late
father, who died less than 1 year after this picture was taken, is holding the ATV
brake for me. I am glad he got to see me train several times and race once.
- ATV Training Run
- Taken in Las Cruces, New Mexico, in 1998. This is during the hookup from the same
training run as above. Notice Taska in the air. She is a jumper in the harness
and, as a result of being tied to the ATV, the energy goes up rather than out. :-)
That is Nicholas watching her at wheel.
- ATV Training Run
- Taken in Las Cruces, New Mexico, in 1998. Taska tangling up the line. She can be a
challenge at times...
- ATV Training Run
- Taken in Las Cruces, New Mexico, in 1998. Beth running back to untangle
Tasska from the line. :-)
- ATV Training Run
- Taken in Las Cruces, New Mexico, in 1998. Both Beth and I hooking up Kiska. Note Tasska
is still airborne. :-)
- ATV Training Run
- Taken in Las Cruces, New Mexico, in 1998. Almost ready to go. Note that Tasska is...
oh, nevermind...
- ATV Training Run
- Taken in Las Cruces, New Mexico, in 1998. Go!
- ATV Training Run
- Taken in Las Cruces, New Mexico, in 1998. On the way back.
- ATV Training Run
- Taken in Las Cruces, New Mexico, in 1998. Done!
- Gig Training Run
- This was taken December, 1995, in Las Cruces, New Mexico.
This is where I was born, and I was down visiting my
parents for Christmas. I took the dogs with me and took
some training runs along the leve of the Rio Grande river.
- Gig Training Run
- Same circumstances as above. Just a different run.
- Other Images

I'd rather be driving sled dogs
